Why FultonSearch?
Tom Tryniski’s FultonHistory.com is an amazing resource, but I wanted to find a way to accomplish some things via search that were otherwise difficult.
FultonSearch offers an alternative interface to FultonHistory.com. (It only points to files hosted and indexed there.) Features include:
- Works without Flash!
- Hackable URLs and linkable searches
- Simplified (but still powerful) search interface
- Easily restrict search by region and date range (not 100% accurate)
- Search by paper / document collection
- Sortable columns, including name of paper, date range, and date added. (Date range is extracted from the filename)
- Filterable search results
- Color highlighting of search words
- Multiple column sort available by using the shift key
- Easy links to surrounding pages, unhighlighted version, and OCRd / extracted text
- A cleaned-up table of materials available at FultonHistory, with links
